Mission, Vision and Objectives

CDIA’S Mission

We are a group of organizations of civil society that are joined in the promotion of actions, protection and monitoring to contribute to the effective implementation of the rights of children and adolescents, promoting a concept of integral development of children and adolescents as holders of rights with emphasis on their active participation.

CDIA’S Vision

The Coordinator for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CDIA) is a strong institution that works defending, promoting and protecting the rights of Paraguayan children and adolescents. CDIA takes a proactive approach in being a protagonist that generates proposals that are able to influence public policy and keeps an active role in the surveillance and monitoring of the State’s work for the rights of children.

The CDIA establishes as its general objectives:

a- To protect and promote rights particularly in favor of children and adolescents that were established at the United Nations Convention as well as other national and international instruments concordant in the field of human rights in general.

b- Promote the effectiveness of guaranteed international and national legislation rights in the levels of design, application and monitoring of public policies aimed at the childhood and adolescence sector.

c- Report situations of rights violations coordinating actions to enable their enforceability before the corresponding authorities.

d- To become a valid spokesperson in the area of childhood and adolescence to both national and international governmental and non-governmental bodies, for the fulfillment of its objectives.

The CDIA establishes as its specific objectives to:

a- Articulate, implement and support actions in favor of children and adolescents through its member organizations and representing them both at national and international level.

b- Develop strategies to promote ongoing research and analysis of the current situation of children and adolescents.

c- Perform tasks of support, advice and training for groups and institutions that request it.

d- Promote work with vulnerable sectors to realize the improvement of the quality and living conditions of children and adolescents in the country.

e- Study, develop and propose, through appropriate channels, legislative reform projects in all matters directly or indirectly  affecting, childhood, adolescence and their families .

f- Establish strategies for monitoring compliance of public policies that affect childhood and adolescence sectors.

g- Promote and contribute to the elimination of discriminatory practices against children and adolescents.

h- Disseminate actions taken nationally and internationally by and for the childhood and adolescence sectors.
