Main achievements

  • • In 1997 CDIA presented to the Parliament the Code of Childhood and Adolescence, later it became the Law 1680/01. The coalition ran activities of lobby, training and assessment to many actors involved in the process of the approbation of the new law. It is remarkable the participation of children and adolescents in the whole process.
  • • Since 1994 till now in an annual basis, the CDIA has carried forward the Campaign called “Week for Children’s and Adolescents’s Rights”. The purpose of the Campaign has been to pick the attention of the public and authorities around the necessity of rights accomplishment. It takes place every august.
  • • The CDIA has proposed many public policies and gave its support for many new laws. The coalition participated in many national task groups with governmental institutions in topic like: prevention of sexual exploitation, traffic of persons, abolition of children and adolescents in the army, birth registry, monitoring of centers for adolescents in prisons and programmers of prevention of violence in schools.
  • • The CDIA is part of many types of Council in the governmental area such as the Council of the Center of Adoptions, the Executive Committee of the Inter-Institutional Table for the combat of the traffic of persons, Table for the Identity registry and Table for the creation of a public policy on Penal Juvenile Justice.
  • • The CDIA gave the support to children and adolescents for the creation of a national net called Platform of Children and Adolescents of Paraguay.
  • • Gives support to the Latin-American and Caribbean Net of Children and Adolescents, REDNYAS.
  • • The CDIA is the sub-coordinator of the South Region of the Latin-American and Caribbean Net of Childhood an Adolescents, REDLAMYC.
  • • It is a source of reference for the public opinion and for the national press.
  • • In its role of defense of rights the CDIA has presented denounces in the national and regional Courts such as the International Commission of Human Rights from the OAS.
  • • Since 2009 has created the Observatory on Children’ s Rights and Public Policies on Childhood and Adolescence.
  • • It is part of the Coordination Group of CODEHUPY.
